Countdown to Mexico

Wow! In less than 20 days my friend Fernanda and me will be flying to Mexico for the first time. Actually, we've known each other for a really long time but this is the first time we're gonna travel together. 15 wonderful days!! But before we can lie down on the wonderful beaches of Puerto Escondido I have to plan it all. As I'm a teacher and I'm already on vacation, I'm "in charge" of all the travel arrangements, including where we're going. She was so busy with work and university that she let me decide on everything. So after months of changing the itinerary almost everyday it is set!! We'll be arriving to Mexico city on January 22nd at 5 am. From there we'll take the subway to the North Bus Station and from there to Acapulco. People say it's not a fantastic place anymore but we wanna hava a look anyway. And the trip on a bus to Puerto Escondido would be like 13 hours. So, we'll stay in Acapulco just for a day at the K3 youth hostel on Condesa beach. The one thing I don't wanna miss is the divers at La Quebrada. The next day we'll be going to Puerto Escondido and we'll stay at Hotel Aqualuna, which is on Zicatela beach. People say it's a wonder for surfers, but we just wanna sunbathe!
Now, before this amazing vacation I have to manage how I can send the money to make the reservation at the hotel, western union is very expensive, so I have to see what I can do. Then I need to get a suitcase, no more backpacks!! I've always used them but this time we're not going to move around so much. I need to get a lot of other things too. This weekend Fernanda and I will make a list so we don't forget anything.
On the 4th of February Fernanda is coming back to Argentina, unfortunately she only has 15 days vacation. But I don't have that problem so I'm gonna stay 15 days more. From the 5th to the 8th I'll be on my own. I still have to decide what I'll do. I think I'm gonna stay at the Coyote Flaco backpachers at least for a day because I'd like to visit the Frida Khalo and Leon Trotski museums. And then maybe I'll go to Cuernavaca and Taxco or to Puebla.
On February 8th, I'll meet in Mexico City my friend Mark from Switzerland. He managed to change some airline miles so we're gonna stay in a 5 star hotel! It will be the first time in my life. Just a couple of days there to go around Centro Historico and the pyramids of Teotihuacán. On the 11th we're flying to Merida. After renting a car we'll visit the Arcaelogical sites of Chichen Itza and Uxmal. Then we'll drive to Cancun and Playa del Carmen, but we don't like crowds and noisy Americans, so I guess we won't be there for too long. After that we're going down Riviera Maya. We won't book any hotels in advance so I hope we find without trouble. Finally we'll drive back to Mexico city. After a sad good bye, he'll be going back to Zurich and I'll be going back to Buenos Aires.
